What's This Feeding? Guided Notes and Writing Activity Discover some usual species of plants and animals. Students will research the Rafflesia plant, The Black Swallower, The Blue Whale, The Giant Anteater, Mantis Shrimp, and The Harpy Eagle by completing the guiding notes and using Ology.com Students will then choose one of the animals they research to write a silly letter home about which they would want as a pet!
Students will follow the given procedure to dissection a flower, identify the males and females parts and apply their knowledge in reflection questions.
Students will use their knowledge of extreme weather (tornado, blizzard, flood, or hurricane) and apply it to design and engineer a structure that could withstand a given condition per request of a famous celebrity. Additional supplies are required for building houses. I suggest providing students will a variety of materials to choose from: cardboard, tin foil, plastic wrap, paper, tape, glue, etc.. Let them for creative!
Activity Directions: There are rules every witch and wizard must follow in order to create a successful potion. If you fail to follow these directions not only will your potion be unsuccessful, but it will EXPLODE! Lastly and most importantly you must decide how much of each ingredient you will. Every successful potion will have a total of 600 ounces, no more and no less! Use addition and subtraction to create your potion! Draw the magic potion you have created in the cauldron!
