About the store
After I retired in 2007 from 32 years' full time teaching of English/Language Arts, I opened my store at TeachersPayTeachers and started selling. I continued to teach summer school for several more years, and I filled in occasionally as a long-term substitute as needed. I coached football and track for most of my career as well, so my approach to education has taken on attributes of "coaching" kids through skill-building experiences, rather than merely providing them with declarative knowledge.
Adjustments to evolving educational standards has never been a problem for me. (I believe the same is likely true for any true professional, by the way.) More often than not, I discover that the "new" requirements suit my methods rather well! Although we still have a long way to go before our nation catches up with other more progressive educational systems of the world, I believe we are still "on the right track." We just need to get this train moving a little faster.

A Tale of Two Cities Conventional Study Guide, 24 Pages, Including Answer Key
Revised. Earlier version had renumbering problems owing, in part, to document translators. They have been corrected. Zip file contains .pdf and .doc versions.This version of the study guide is not minutely detailed. It is twelve pages long, followed by twelve pages of answer keys and explanatory notes.

Since a large share of my teaching materials consists of "close-reading" activities, I thought I'd explain how I use them. So I'm providing several free products that do just that.

My own education history
M ED 1988 with emphasis in Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in English, 1974. Many, many other classes in many educational areas over the years.
Additional biographical information
I always liked working out in my younger years, but have taken to walking, biking, and milder forms of exercise of late. I enjoy classical music. I have two grown children, girls, born 1978 and 1981, from a previous marriage. I'm remarried as of 2003. My wife is a former teacher/librarian. She has three daughters from her former marriage. To help support them through college, my wife and I came out of retirement and worked full-time jobs outside of teaching. We retired from our labors completely in 2020.
