I have taught 8th Grade Remediation, Math I, Math IH, Math II, Math IIH, and Math III in Utah. I am currently teaching the freshmen and sophomore honors classes at my local high school.
These are Common Core Aligned Scaffolded Notes. They are made to be used as a note-taking guide in the classroom, particularly in states like Utah where Core-aligned books are not as readily available to match the state core. These notes include group exploration activities and classroom discussion. I have included a set of the "teacher's notes" that a teacher can use to review the lesson and also share on a class website with students who were absent the day of the lesson. This particular lesso
These notes (Teacher and Student Versions) are designed to help students recognize the patterns that can be found in integer exponents. With guided examples, students will discover and define the multiplication property, division property, power to a power property, and negative power property. This lesson also includes four different justifications for the zero power property, which is infamous for the student frustration that it causes in middle school and high school. These notes help meet th
This ledger combines the idea of classroom money, hall-pass coupons, extra-credit coupons, and other classroom reward strategies into one easy-to-manage system. Each student receives a ledger at the beginning of the year to track classroom credits and debits. They each start out with a back-to-school stipend of $20. In the column labeled "transaction type" students can earn money by doing things like solving a problem on the board or explaining their reasoning in front of the class. They are req
This template allows you to quickly create homework assignments that give more reliable data AND cut down on grading time AND never require a student to grade the work of another student. A portion of the assessment takes place in class so that students get that timely feedback BEFORE they are assigned the entire worksheet. It also takes care of students who turn in homework late or are absent the day that homework is assigned. Once this system is integrated into your classroom students will pe
These notes (Teacher and Student versions) are an great way to prepare Math 2 students for N.RN.1 by teaching them to evaluate, estimate, add, subtract, and multiply radical expressions in every index. This lesson uses the patterns in radical expressions to help students create their own definitions and explanations for simplification processes. It also ties back into N.RN.3 requirements by showing students how to identify if radical expressions are rational or irrational.

These are scaffolded notes (Teacher & Student Versions) that are designed to guide student learning and note-taking during a lesson. They may be used to incorporate group work, individual exploration, and classroom discussion into a lesson. This particular set of notes uses the definition of Pi to help students discover the formula for circumference and area of a circle. It also uses Cavaleri's Principle to allow students to determine the volume for many common solids. The goal is for students t

Teaching style
My peace of mind relies on organization in my classroom. My goal is to clearly define curriculum and expectations for learning to my students. I use a system of scaffolded notes that include classroom instruction, group activities, individual student discovery, and personal learning experiences. My students love the structure and creativity that we experience with this system.
