This is a list of 174 different Character Traits. So often when I was teaching I wanted a list of traits so that my students could look at the list while describing characters. This also helps students get to know and understand different character traits. Mrs. R.

This is a unit for the novel Dolphin Adventure by Wayne Grover. This is a nonfiction book and excellent for grades 3-6. There are questions for each chapter. There is also a study guide that could be used in a literature center. I have also included a page on figurative language. Dolphin Adventure has many similes, metaphors, and hyperboles. It includes both literal and inferential questions for each of the chapters, 3 activities to do when finished reading, and a cover page. There are two pages for students to find the verbs, a page for students to supply verbs to sentences to complete the story, a page for students to write sentences about a Halloween picture and circle the verb, and two pages to find verbs and write creative stories. This is a unit with a Thanksgiving theme which includes alphabetical order, forming plurals, writing an acrostic poem, the story of The First Thanksgiving with comprehension questions, the story of the Pilgrims' journey with comprehension questions, planning and figuring the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner, a number puzzle, telling time, an art project for making a turkey out of Thanksgiving words, four coloring pages, and a word search. This is an eight page unit to use with the study of Food Chains. Students will work in groups of three to research Producers, Consumers, and Decomposers. When finished, the group will analyze and decide which, if any, is the most importantnpart of the Food Chain. Students will present their findings as a group and individually. This unit is written to use for 25 weeks, focusing on one trait per week, answering one or two questions per day. About 10-20 minutes per day. I wrote a vignette for each trait using experiences I had with students. There are questions for students to answer and activities for students to do independently or with a partner(group).
