Take a Peek Inside the PBL Workbook!
- Activity #1- Going to the Park: Students tackle addition/subtraction with 1-2 step equations as well as telling time as they read a neighborhood map and find multiple ways to get to the park and back while leaving enough time to play! (3 pgs.)
- Activity #2- Planning the Picnic: Students are using their addition/subtraction and money skills to solve word problems in real-life scenarios as they help grandma purchase treats for the children at the picnic. Students must stay within a budget and keep track of their spending! (3 pgs.)
- Activity #3- Riding Your Bike: Students solve word problems involving addition/subtraction and skip counting to calculate the amount of time and miles spent riding a bike. They use the map of the park bike trails to guide them! (3 pgs.)
- Printable Game- Running the Race: In this 2-4 player group game, students practice adding 4 numbers at once as they choose 4 cards to create their race team and record their points along the way. Whoever has the fastest team wins!
- Student Self-Reflection: Students answer questions about how they feel they are doing with the math concepts practiced throughout this workbook. They discuss what they liked, what they struggle with, and what questions they have.

- Use this activity for REVIEW AND PRACTICE after students have learned the content.
- Students should be able to complete each activity in 20-30 minutes.
Activity Variations:
- This activity is PERFECT for math centers! Students can work independently or with a small group.
- Use this activity with a teacher-led small group for students that need extra guidance and support.
- Assign this to students that are home sick or on vacation to encourage them to complete math activities while they are away from school.
- Leave these activities for a substitute to do with students!
- Have a teacher aide or parent volunteer work through problems with students that are struggling.
