Do you teach your students the various syllable types? This document contains a list of 300, decodable, multisyllabic words.
I have my remedial reading students practice decoding larger words, using syllable division rules, daily. They draw a line to show each syllable, and then they label the syllable type underneath. We practice reading the words, following the syllable rules.
This product is a running record template. With it, you are able to do a running record on any student, using any passage or book. Simply listen to a student read for 100 words. As the student is reading, make a check mark in each box if the student reads the word correctly. If the student makes an error, record the error in the box. Record an "SC" if the student self-corrects.
Tally how many errors the student made vs. how many words the student read correctly. Since this is only out of 100 w
This is a progress monitoring tool that assesses students’ ability to decode one syllable words that contain vowel teams with long vowel sounds, in isolation and in context. Each assessment takes only a few minutes to administer, and you can get a nice snapshot of your students’ ability and growth. Each assessment contains 20 words in isolation, and then a few sentences that contain the phonics skill of focus. There is a student page and teacher recording page as well. This is a progress monitoring tool that assesses students’ ability to decode one syllable words that contain two syllable multisyllabic words.
Each assessment takes only a few minutes to administer, and you can get a nice snapshot of your students’ ability and growth. Each assessment contains 24 words in isolation, including nonsense words (there are 8 nonsense words). Each set of words is divided by syllable type combinations. Have students read down the columns.

This product is an assessment tool to monitor progress on decoding multisyllabic words containing open and closed syllables. There is a baseline and post-test assessment, so you are able to compare apples to apples, as well as 2 other forms. Each probe contains 12 words (real and pseudo) for students to read in isolation. There is a student copy, and a teacher copy for each probe. On the teacher copy, there is also a table designed to help determine overall percentage of accuracy.
This is a running record template that you can use with any book. This is a revised template that now includes rate as a component-so it can be more consistent with DRA criteria. It also includes some inferential comprehension questions.
This product is a progress monitoring tool to measure student's progress with encoding and decoding CVC words. There is one assessment to be used as a baseline and post-test, and two progress monitoring pages. Students should spell the names of each of the 5 pictures, and then read the 5 words. Each vowel is used twice (once for encoding and once for decoding). There is a teacher space to record and analyze the assessment as well.
Use RACE to help students organize their open ended responses. Students use this acronym to respond to text with evidence and explanation.

C: Cite (at least) 2 Pieces of Evidence (As always, the more evidence the better!)
E: Explain your Answer (Why does this make sense? Why does this evidence support your answer?)
This document is an answer frame that students can use to organize their written response. The answer frame includes sentence starters

This product is an I have...Who has? game. All of the words on each card are multisyllabic nonsense words. Students read each word, and the student who has the word on their card, says "I have..." and reads the word. Play continues until the last card is reached. This set comes with 18 cards. This can be used in a small group or whole group setting. *Revised copy - sizing of cards updated.
After students have learned how to decode CVC words, have them decode 2 syllable words with CVC words. This product has a teaching anchor chart that provides students with practice decoding these words, as well as a baseline/post-test and 2 other progress monitoring cards.

This product accompanies the student copy of 300 decodable multisyllabic words in my store. This product contains the same words as the other product, but they are formatted differently. There are 3 words per page. In small groups, I recommend putting them in page protectors and using dry erase markers to divide syllables.
This product is an assessment that looks at each area of phonemic awareness. If a student has weaknesses in phonemic awareness, reading will be very difficult for them, and often they will fall behind because they do not have the necessary reading foundation. This assessment pinpoints areas of phonemic awareness needs.
This assessment also includes a chart to easily analyze students performance.

Many students who have difficulty learning to decode can readily learn the skills necessary to figure out individual words. However, many of these students find it very hard to read words fast enough to comprehend the meaning of what they read. These students need to develop fluency in responding to print.
Reading Speed Drills help students develop automaticity at responding to the orthographic units that make up words and whole words. This fluency transfers to reading new words.
