Everyday Math 5th Grade: Unit 6 Study Guide
Share

Description

This is a great review packet to help your 5th graders prepare for the Everyday Mathematics Unit 6 Assessment! These are similar questions and topics that will be covered on the test, and I've found that if students are familiar with the structure and types of problems that will be asked, they will be more successful on their assessments. Here are the topics that the Unit 6 Assessment covers:

  • Multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of 10
  • Multiplying and dividing decimals by whole numbers
  • Estimating decimals to help find answers
  • Volume of a building
  • Line Plots and interpreting data

I use this review one or two days before the test, and have them take it home to be signed by their parents, acknowledging that they also reviewed with their student. I like to have the students work in small groups, and then go over the answers for table points. I hope you find my math reviews as useful as I have in my own classroom!

Please visit my STORE to find more resources in math and science, and don't forget to leave me 5 stars and a great review so you can earn money back for more TPT resources! Thank you so much!

Overall, this is an amazing resource! Students were engaged and was a great resource for parents to see what students have been learning. This aligns extremely well with the end of Unit 6 test. These seems to be missing information on questions 15 that really stumped the students. There is no label mentioned in the question and to assume to measure flowers in feet is not common. After discussing with all 3 of my math classes, inches was determined to be a better unit of measure so we adjusted. If you could add a label into the problem, that would be great!

Hi Christina! Yep, I'm noticing that you're absolutely right! I'll have to add in the word problem that his farm's flowers are in feet. I'm thinking of those tall wildflowers and sunflowers that are my favorite in the springtime. Thanks for letting me know!

Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.
Make a line plot to display a data set of measurements in fractions of a unit (1/2, 1/4, 1/8). Use operations on fractions for this grade to solve problems involving information presented in line plots. For example, given different measurements of liquid in identical beakers, find the amount of liquid each beaker would contain if the total amount in all the beakers were redistributed equally.
Relate volume to the operations of multiplication and addition and solve real world and mathematical problems involving volume.
