Description
3rd grade skills are used throughout the year when learning new concepts. These February themed centers will help your students continue to practice these concepts. Great for early finishers, review, test prep and so much more.
In this pack you will find 8 common core aligned math centers for students to practice previous taught concepts.
Included are:
Broken Heart Division: 3.OA.B.6
Students will solve division equations and then have to find the broken heart piece with the correct quotient to match the hearts to it's division equation. Recording sheet included.
Candy Heart Rounding to the Nearest ten and hundred: 3.NBT.A.1
Students will round the numbers on the pink, blue and purple candy hearts to the nearest ten. Then they will round the numbers on the yellow, green and orange candy hearts to the nearest hundred. As they round the numbers they will complete the recording sheet.
Teddy Bear Time Puzzles: 3.MD.A.1
Students will match the analog clock to the digital clock. Once they have all of their matches they will complete the recording sheet where they will be asked to create two times on their own.
Buzzing Bees: Inverse Operations with Addition and Subtraction: 3.NBT.A.2
Buzzing bees are holding an addition or subtraction equation for students to solve. When they solve one of the equations they have to find the inverse operation that matches. Once they have both equations, they can write both of the equations on the buzzing bees recording sheet.
HOOT! HOOT! Heart Game: 3.OA.B.5
In this game, students will practice the associative property by rolling three number cubes and creating an three factor equation to solve. Once they create and solve they will then look at the product of their equation to move their marker on the game board. If their product is odd they move one space, if they product is even they move two spaces. As they move through the game board they collect heart points. But they may land on a space that takes heart points away from them. The player with the most heart points at the end of the game wins.
Valentine Problem Solving: 3.OA.D.8
Students will need to decide which equations they will need to use to solve each of the 12 word problem task cards. Word problems are multi-step and use addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to solve. Recording sheet is included.
Are You Yeti to Add?: 3.NBT.A.2
Three digit numbers are on Yeti face cards for students to create a three digit addition equation. Students will create their three digit addition equations and face off to see who has the greatest sum. If they have the greatest sum, they will color their Yeti face on the recording sheet. The student with the most Yeti faces colored wins.
Presidential Properties: 3.OA.B.5
Using their multiplication property knowledge, students will place the associative and distributive property strips on the correct multiplication property mat. Then once the property strips are sorted, students will find the Abraham Lincoln or George Washington face number cards that has the missing number that goes to that multiplication property number sentence. Recording sheet is included.
I hope these math centers helped with review of 3rd grade math concepts in your classroom during the month of February. I use them in my classroom at centers, for early finishers and my students love them!
