Description

3rd grade skills are used throughout the year when learning new concepts. These January/Winter themed centers will help your students continue to practice these concepts. Great for early finishers, review, test prep and so much more.

In this pack you will find 8 common core aligned math centers for students to practice previous taught concepts.

Included are:
Snowball Subtraction: 3.NBT.A.2
Students will solve subtraction equations and then have to find the snowball with the correct difference to match the snowman to it's subtraction equation. Recording sheet included.

Matching Mittens Rounding to the Nearest ten and hundred: 3.NBT.A.1
Students will match each mitten to the correct rounded number. Numbers will be rounded to the nearest ten with a number in the tens, to the nearest ten with a number in the hundreds or to the nearest hundred with a number in the hundreds. Recording sheet included.

Winters Monsters: Multiplication: 3.OA.A.4
Students will match the product monster to each multiplication equation. On the recording sheet, students are asked to put products in order from least to greatest.

Snow Day Graphing: 3.MD.B.3
Four data charts will be used to complete bar graphs and pictographs. Students will be able to select to use either a data chart on winter activities, winter animals, snow day treats or winter accessory. Using the data chart they will then create a bar graph and pictograph on the graph paper that is included. Finally students will answer questions on the recording sheets about the graphs they made using the Snow Day data.

Troll House Area: 3.MD.C.6
Help the trolls find the area of their homes. Students will have to find out the area of 12 troll homes. Once they find the area they will find the troll with the correct area and place the troll on top of the card. Students will then complete the recording sheet.

Winter Problem Solving: 3.OA.D.8
Students will need to decide which equations they will need to use to solve each of the 12 word problem task cards. Word problems are multi-step and use addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to solve. Recording sheet is included.

Three-Digit Addition Snowmen: 3.NBT.A.2
Snowman cards have two numbers on them that students will create a three-digit addition equation to solve. Once they create their problem they will complete a recording sheet where they will put the addition equation in the middle section of the snowman and the sum in the bottom of the snowman.

Penguin Addition Properties: 3.NBT.A.2
Using their addition property knowledge, students will place the addition property strips on the correct addition property mat. Then once the property strips are sorted, students will find the penguin that has the missing number that goes to that addition property number sentence. Recording sheet is included.

I hope these math centers helped with review of 3rd grade math concepts in your classroom during the month of January. I use them in my classroom at centers, for early finishers and my students love them!

Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Measure areas by counting unit squares (square cm, square m, square in, square ft, and improvised units).
Use place value understanding to round whole numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
