Also includes a black and white version.

Zip File contains: PDFs

These cards make it easy to differentiate with one set of materials.

1. Beginners will use the backside with the arrays to begin to learn the concept of multiplication as repeated addition, displayed in an array as rows and columns. Encourage these learners to think of multiplication as "row of" On the 7x8 card in the thumbnail, there are seven rows of eight.

Many students struggle to learn the multiplication facts greater than 5 such as 7x4. Help students learn to start with something they already know. Many students know their 5s or can figure them out quickly. A student may not know 7x4; however, he may know five rows of four is twenty. Because of the bold line on the card, he sees that he needs two more rows of four.

2. On the next, level students will use the practice with the multiplication facts on the front side. When they get to combinations they don't know, they will flip the card over and use the array to help them figure it out.

3. More advanced learners may only need the front side of the card.

This resource may be used as a RTI intervention, math center, or as individual practice. Punch a hole in the corner of each card, shuffle, and then put them on a loose leaf ring. Students can quickly get a set of cards when they finish their work early.
