A great way to introduce students to a rock study is to sort rocks.
- An overview video introduces you to the components in the product
- Learn about the physical properties of rocks using a team sort activity
- You'll find worksheets in English and Spanish, a student text with two reading levels in English and one translated into Spanish, and recordings of the texts for students who benefit from hearing the text
- Short student essays about the properties of rocks, one is translated into Spanish
- All versions for the texts are recorded for students who benefit from listening to the text
- A PowerPoint presentation shows students several rocks sorts. Use it to introduce the topic, expand student thinking or assess student learning
- Worksheets for a creative writing essay or an informational essay. Both are saved in Word™ documents so you can reformat for your students and/or upload them to your online classroom

It's difficult to say the duration of this lesson, it just depends on how much time you have for sorting rocks!
