His wit and wisdom (not to mention joy, compassion, and absolute hilarity!) always seems to more effectively teach aspects of the Catholic faith than I ever could, which is why I began utilizing his videos in my religion classes on a regular basis years ago. Teaching style

My students always told me my teaching style was rather unique. As evidenced in many of my resources, I always try to bring fun, creativity, and inspiration to all that I do and create. I’m a big believer in story-telling, leading with beauty, and making each lesson relevant to the everyday lives of the students I teach. And anchoring it all is the desire to help my students become both “mini-theologians” and “BIG-TIME SAINTS”!

Awards & shining teacher moments

Voted “Tommie of the Year” at the University of St. Thomas, an honor given to “the senior who, according to UST students, faculty and staff, best represents the ideals of St. Thomas Aquinas through scholarship, leadership, and campus involvement”. Received the “Work of the Heart Award” from the Catholic Foundation, an award given to the “unsung heroes who deserve recognition for outstanding service and dedication”. Dean’s List, every semester at the University of St. Thomas (undergrad). Dean’s List, every semester at The University of St. Mary of the Lake (seminary). Dean’s List, every semester at The University of Notre Dame (graduate school). *More than any of the above, I consider it the highest honor to reconnect with students years after teaching them and hearing how their lives and faith were positively impacted from their time in my classroom.

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts in Theology from The University of St. Thomas, MN. Minors in Catholic Studies and Youth and Family Ministry. Completion of Pre-Theology program (philosophy and theology) while discerning the priesthood at The University of St. Mary of the Lake Mundelein Seminary. Master of Arts in Education from the University of Notre Dame through the ACE (Alliance for Catholic Education) program.
