As an elementary special education teacher, I always worked on calendar skills. It was something we did in my room, as well as something my students would do in their regular classroom for morning work before they came to me. Our classroom

Learning about Integers can be confusing. You have to remember what an integer is an what an integer is not. We have to know the positive and negative signs and how we can compare positive and negative numbers. Then, all of that is followed up by

Once variables are added to math, I feel like I completely lose my students. Especially with more than one step to solve. They get very confused. They get frustrated. At times they even shut down. I needed to break this down for them, in an easier

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This 2017-2018 school year marks my 11th year as a special education teacher. I have been fortunate to teach in three different school districts, thus far. I have taught at both the elementary and junior high/high school levels. I was a junior high/high school emotional support teacher for three years and an elementary learning support teacher for 5! I have also been co-teaching, in ELA and math inclusion classrooms, for five years now. During this upcoming school year, I will be at the high school level for more pull-out and co-teaching!

MY TEACHING STYLE

"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

In 2007, I received Bachelors Degrees in both Elementary Education (K-6) and Education of Exceptional Persons (N-12). I am also certified Middle School English Language Arts and Middle School Math.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

When I am not in my classroom, you can find me with my family and closest friends, working out at the gym, running a 5k somewhere, feeding my shopping addiction, watching obnoxious amounts of Netflix, or most importantly spending quality time with my Yorkie-ton, Charley... and his furry brothers!:)
