Paper Templates for Greek Theatre Masks

As a teacher, I've struggled to find Greek Theatre mask projects that work for the motor development of my students. Paper plate masks were too limiting and often seen by my students as juvenile. More complex projects were either too difficult or messy, and what started off as a planned two day activity would regularly stretch into a whole week of classes. I created this product because of this challenge: I wanted a mask activity that would be quick and put the focus on character creation rathe

I specifically ask students to compare and contrast the styles of theater and draw connections to the values of the Ancient Greek and Roman people. We read Antigone along with this history, make masks in class, and perform scenes from the play. This is a bundle of my Greek and Roman theater history resources from the foundations of theater in Ancient Greece to the end of t

Dream Room Design Project

The Dream Room Design Project gives theater teachers a framework for teaching those skills with a prompt that will motivate students. Students are given a fictional space and asked to design a bedroom. They are given a budget of

The eight scenarios are inspired by real life disasters experienced by friends and family in the theater. Possible responses are provided along with instructions and printable scen

In 2019 when I started pre-production on Beauty and the Beast, I realized I would need a LOT of food props for our spread during "Be Our Guest." The Prop Food Project teaches research, trial and error, and speaking skills. This product includes two versions of the project: one for generic food items, and one for stereotypical French

After requests on Instagram, I've made the file editable and available for licensing here. This ZIP file contains two Powerpoint files: the cover and the insides. Every year my Theatre I class makes sock puppets and puts on a puppet show, and this has proven to be a great way to get students to engage in a low-stakes performance that allows them to warm up to the stage by hiding behind a table and doing a silly voice. Teaching style

I bring my enthusiasm and love of the performing arts into my classroom. I'm an unabashed nerd, and I find that enthusiasm to be contagious. It's important to me as a teacher to never stop learning, especially in the performing arts where I have to be a jack-of-all-trades. I believe that theater arts training helps students no matter what they want to be in life. I believe that learning is the most effective when it is rooted in passion, and I give my students as many opportunities as possible to tie their learning to something they care about. I try to tell funny stories during lectures and keep history connected to the present. My favorite things to teach are stage violence and Shakespeare.
