Students keep this record in their books/folders and part of their daily routine is to complete a times table quiz in 2 minutes. They mark their score and the date on their own record sheet. Great for students to take responsibility for their own learning and independently keep track of their learning while making their learning visible.
This game allows students to explore the concept of "twice as many" when learning to multiply with 2s. The Quiz, Quiz, Game allows pairs of students to practice multiplying with 2s and consider if they would want that amount of a particular item.
This multiplication quiz can be used for classwork or for homework. The English and Spanish versions are on the same document.
This map quiz is correlated with Unit 3 in Everyday Mathematics at the 4th grade level. It includes place value, basic facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), fact triangles, and equations with variables.
Have students color in sections of the brain as they pass their multiplication tables. Place the goal sheet in their journal so they can add to it as they come closer to their goal. Or add it to their agenda / planner so they can show their parents their progress.
Make a larger version to show in the classroom. As students pass their quizzes, they sign their name on the correct factor.
ENJOY!!
This quiz is a review of comparing fractions as well as adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators. There are also review multiplication questions.
In order to increase students' confidence in addition facts, I always started by teaching one trick at a time. I began with +0, then +1, then +2, then doubles, and then complements of 10. Once students know those tricks, they can simply memorize the other facts. Here is an easy sheet to review JUST these fast facts.
Do you want to increase your student's fluency with their multiplication tables? This is a great tool to have your students practice their multiplication facts! Students time themselves each day on a set of facts. You can set a goal that you want your students to reach or have them beat their own best time. To help with any of my students that get anxiety of timing, I have my students time themselves and have them try to beat their time each day. I have found this makes it easier for anxious stu
Great practice to understand and extend inverse fact family relationships! Front of worksheet has 8 different sets which gives students 3 related numbers and they are to put them in the correct blank based on the symbols. Symbols are switched around to increase rigor. Back of worksheet is similar with 8 different sets except the numbers aren't provided. I give my students 2 12 sided dice and they multiply to determine their related facts.
Quick facts practice or quiz for facts 0 - 12.
FULL SET FOR ALL FACTS 1-12!
1 focus fact per page, repeated 6 times i. e. each page is divided into 6 pieces so for a class of 30, make just 5 copies and cut the page into 6 strips
useful for quick homework, quiz, morning work/exit slip
This activity is a formative assessment that can be used in conjunction with the performance task found in Unit 2 in Georgia's 2nd grade math curriculum. ( https://www.georgiastandards.org/Common-Core/Common%20Core%20Frameworks/CCGPS_Math_2_Unit2FrameworkSE.pdf ) (pages 33-36)
Math (composition) notebooks have been highly encouraged by state curriculum developers and this activity may be used as an artifact inserted into students' notebooks. They can be glued into the notebooks with completion
I prefer these little check-ins to stressful "pop quizzes" and the students seem to appreciate the low key nature of these short assessments that are use not just to me but to them as well. This is a really helpful tool for me to get a quick but clear sense of where each of my learners is on the path to developing strong conceptual understandings that can be applied flexibly and accurately. If you like this, there is also one for division strategies too! *These are word docs so that you can edi
This is a huge collection of open ended Numeracy problems and Mental Math quizzes that I have picked up and built over the last few year.
There are several pages worth of questions related to: Mental Maths questions, Time and length problem solving and questions such as: what is a factor and how do we use them?
I have had great success with students enjoying these activities over the years and they are levelled from grade 3 to grade 8.
You can use the following as an extra review or quiz for Chapter 4 in the program Go Math for 3rd grade. It shows how to use multiplication facts and strategies. It can also be given as homework to help prepare for the test. Common Core Standards.
