Students cut out pieces for ladybug body and wings. On each wing draw with black an identical number of spots. Add white eyes to top of body. Use a paper fastener to attach wings under head shape of body. Move wings to separate them, and underneath write the nultiplication sentence ( 2 X however many spots are on each wing) with a white crayon. Use ten frames as a game to increase student fluency. Cut apart all the ten frames, each pair gets two sets of frames. Lay the frames out in front of the pair and they have to declare "Snap Ten" when they see a match that would make a ten. Then they also have to tell their partner WHY it makes a ten. Can be used hundreds of other ways, too! This is just the one way I've been using them lately!
