This 14 page packet has 14 different levels of challenges for students that are preparing for the OAA (Ohio 5th grade math test). The levels start with easier concepts such as ratios, and end with harder concepts such as algebraic equations. I would have students complete levels with their group, get a check, and then earn a sticker for each "level" they passed. I used this and explained it was like a video game. THEY LOVED IT! This is a colorful chart of problem solving code words for math. The words are broken into groups (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.) The colorful arrangement helps their brains reflect back to certain words when they are no longer allowed to use their chart. I have found that the students do so much better when they have a copy of the chart in color, but we keep a black and white extra in our notebooks.
