Autism Consequence & Behavior Map & Quiet Work Rules using Boardmaker

Created by
SpEd Savvy
I created a consequence map using picture prompts (ie. Boardmaker) to visually show appropriate and inappropriate behaviors during class. This clearly defines expectations and consequences for students, especially those on the Autism spectrum. I tape it to my students' desks and I can simply tap their choice to non-verbally remind them. I also included "Quiet Work Rules"- which I cut in half, laminate, and pass out or project during small group, partner, or independent work as a reminder of t

Contingency Map (Antecedent, Multiple Behaviors, Consequence)

Print this contingency map and write or glue pictures directly on it OR laminate for durability and attach velcro to each box so that pictures can be interchangeable! The first box represents the trigger (which is usually when the student's problem occurs). Across the top, you add pictures of the multiple behaviors you want to occur, and the reinforcer the student will receive. Along the bottom, you would include the problem behaviors, and the consequence. This visual representation helps stude

I have tried many forms/tools to try to help "reteach" students to effectively problem solve during the school day instead of just learning how to avoid a consequence. Instead of using multiple tools, I created a behavior mapping tool that effectively guides the adult (writer) and student (reporter) through a true problem solving approach to reinforce future success. Give it a try at any level!

This flow chart is a visual for students. It aids in helping them to understand the choices they are making and the consequences (positive and/or negative) that result from those choices. It can be aligned with the Zones of Regulation (red zone/green zone). The symbol at the end stands for "consequence". It can be edited to a more specific consequence visual. Student is in the Red Zone (or making poor choices), Student is asked to "stop", Student moves to the Green Zone (makes better choices) OR

Contingency Visual

Contingency Maps are a cognitive behavioral approach that helps to teach individuals the relationship between behaviors, consequences and others' perspective. Similar to Social Behavior Mapping by Michele Garcia Winner, this visual was created to provide students with a concrete illustration of the outcomes to desired and undesired behaviors. This template can be edited to fit the needs of your students. For students with deficits in receptive language consider adding visuals!

Behavior Contingency Maps: Teach Self-Regulation & Choice Making

Behavior mapping is an effective way of teaching contingencies between choices and consequences. I love using behavior contingency maps to teach both the skill of choice making and also the responsibility of our actions and choices. These resources and activities align with CASELs core competencies of Self-Awareness and Self-Management. Contingency mapping our behaviors and choices is a great way to teach self-regulation skills. It's an all time favorite visual support and behavior support for m

Decision Making Graphic Organizers

DescriptionGraphic organizers can be very useful in making a decision because they force the student to think about what the problem is, what the possible alternatives are, and what the consequences (positive and negative) of each alternative could be. Then the decision can be more easily analyzed. There are two types of graphic that students can use.
