As teachers, we want to help all students learn. Many times, teachers give accommodations to students other than special education students. These students are usually in the Response to Intervention (RTI) program. It is important to come prepared to student meetings with documentation of the accommodations that you have given so that you can give a recommendation for an increase or decrease in tier level. Sometimes, you need to come ready to a meeting requesting a referral to your school's Spec

Evidence of Electron Notes - flame demo, ions, salts - Layered AVID mod Cornell

These notes come after reading an article about the science of fireworks and before the flame lab. I conduct a flame demo using the salt solutions students will test later using wood splints. During the demo, I have a bunsen burner clamped and suspended on a ring stand, and I spray the ionic solutions beneath the burner to stimulate the increase and subsequent decrease of electron excitation resulting in the emission of colored photons. PRETTY & COOL!!! Afterwards, we discuss and define salts
