How many coins would it take to fill up the box?

Students are then given 1 of each coin and they'll have to measure the diameter and weigh them. From there, they work to figure out how

Teaching Fraction Subtraction the "Pizza Box" Way

Students have a hard time subtracting "unfriendly" fractions where the second fraction part is larger than the first (ie. 3 1/3 - 2 2/3). To simplify this and build conceptual understanding I teach students to stack, count and open pizza boxes to solve these problems. Students use manipulatives and I explain it with whole, filled boxes, partial filled boxes and pieces on the table. Then they can "open" a box and place the pieces back on the table (fraction dividing line - denominator is amount i

Stock Market Graphs

Students use their skills to track and interpret trends with at least 3 current companies. They collect data on stock price for two weeks, graph the information, then make predictions about what they think will happen based on the trends. Great for use in finance and investment classes, math, or science to collect and analyze data. I used this in my middle school RTI classes for project-based learning. Let me know what you think or how I might make it better. Thank you!
