My students are a professional touring choir. When they visit fun places like Disneyworld I like them to learn something as well as have a good time. This activity is one they do on the drive to Disneyworld. They will read a short bio of Disney and the respond to an open-ended question. They will draw Mickey Mouse (scale, proportion, direction following). The last page is Disney trivia. They find the answers by evaluating math expressions (order of operations).

My students are all professional musicians. To practice translations and reflections on the 4-quadrant plane I had them graph an eighth note, translate it and then reflect it across the x axis and y axis. They had fun doing it!

This powerpoint will review the properties of multiplying monomials and teach the properties of dividing monomials. This includes: quotient of powers property, power of a quotient property, zero exponent property and the negative exponent property. Where it says "Let's Practice" a question is posed and students should answer before the next slide is revealed with the answer. In class I use individual whiteboards. Students put the answer on the board and hold it up for my viewing.

Introduces students to the commutative and associative properties of addition and multiplication as well as additive and multiplicative identity and the multiplicative property of zero. This is an easy introduction to scatter plots. I like to project on to a dry erase board and use a marker to make points. You can edit it to add new scatter plots.

After a review of multiplying Monomials and multiplying Polynomials by Monomials students are taught to multiply polynomials using the Distributive Property and FOIL. Examples illustrate both methods and there are problems for students to try. In class I have students solve the problems on dry erase white boards. They hold them up and I can immediately see who is grasping the concept and who is struggling.

This PowerPoint is a good introduction to plotting points in the first quadrant of the coordinate plane. I project onto a white board and have the students come up and plot points and write answers. This would work well on a Smartboard too.

To be used before a lesson on Exponential Functions. This explains geometric sequences with examples and practice problems. At the end the students will be asked the question about how much money one has if given a penny and the amount is doubled each day for a month.

Use one number line per student, the second page will need to be copied for every student in the class. Have students label the top of the 2 page spread as INTEGERS. Tape or glue the number line below and have students label it. I have them find the middle and label it 0 first. Label one page NEGATIVE and the other POSITIVE. The student cut out and glue the integer situations and write the integer described. With the integers student will cut them out, paste them and write a situation for each.

I've used this with great success on the first day of school many times. It's a great way to break the ice and get to know the students. Feel free to edit and put in your own Pig picture.

This Powerpoint presentation teaches students to identify triangles based on angles and sides. I white out the triangle names on the handout and have the students try to identify each before showing them the answers.
