Here are three Geometry Quizzes that I used for 4th and 6th grades. I have one on lines and angles, one on triangles and polygons, and one on solid figures and planes. The last one is great for using as a lab, too. Find models to use and have kids explore and count the vertices, angles, sides, etc. I've used these materials in some form for students as low as 3rd grade and as high as 7th. My strategy is simple: I teach ELLs, so often they get confused about the wording of math quizzes rather t

This is a great formative assessment, independent work, homework practice, or just plain fun. Have the students cut apart the 14 different triangles, find the area, and match it with the corresponding answer. You could turn it into memory, use it as a center, the possibilities are endless. What a great way for students to check their own work and understanding.

3rd grade math test or homework

This multiple choice math quiz is a great review of basic math problems that have been taught throughout third grade. I gave this as homework in April as a review for things that they had been taught throughout the year such as fractions and word problems. I ended up giving this as homework several times in a row, just switching up the questions to help my students study.

The attached file contains scavenger hunt and a recording sheet. The scavenger hunt contains 18 transformations on the coordinate grid problems. Students are given a graph with a figure on it and asked to either reflect, translate, rotate, or dilate that figure. The answers are the coordinates of one of the transformed vertices. This activity allows students to practice this skill with their peers. The students are able to get out of their seats which usually keeps the students engaged. By worki

Plotting Points

Students will move to different stations and work on plotting points/graphing. After plotting the given points, students will work on their understanding of rotations and reflections by using the rules of rotations (i.e. 90 degrees, 180 degrees, clockwise/counterclockwise). When students have plotted the second set of coordinates based on a rotation, they will then reflect the image over the x-axis or y-axis. Students can work individually or with a partner. The task cards could also work as

7th Grade Common Core Scale Drawing Assignment

I use this assignment as a quiz in my class. The assignment can be easily lengthened into a project. The assignment allows students to be as creative as they would like, but still forces them to use scale drawing principals. The assignment has no "right" answer but as a teacher you can easily see "correct" answers and gain lots of feedback about your students. I hope your class enjoys it as much as mine did.

Ratios and Proportions Mystery Review

Students have to solve various problems using ratios, proportions, and percents to figure out who stole Mrs. Evans' white board markers! The questions range from pretty basic to much more complex. For example, rather than having students simply find a missing side in two similar figures, they must find two missing sides and then the perimeter of the larger figure before they can learn a clue about who stole the markers, where the markers are stashed, and what the motive was.
