In this data and statistics project, students play the same "Snake" to gather data. Using their own data AND their teacher's data, they will calculate and compare the measures of variation and central tendency. Multiplication Extension Activity/Project Based Learning
Students will use their knowledge of multiplication to plan a bowling party for themselves and 3 of their friends.
Use the website of an actual bowling alley to collect information about cost and select food choices from an online menu.
Students must stay within a budget and create a written report as the final project.

This project has students designing their dream home! They must design and draw their home, with whatever crazy rooms they want (there is a minimum set for the project). When they are done, they are to find the area and perimeter of each room, then, using ads from the hardware stores, select flooring and find the cost of flooring for each room. This project has students using graph paper, adding, multiplying, and finding area and perimeter of rectangles and squares.

This project asks students to write a business proposal for a bank to look at to decide if the bank wants to fund it. Students brainstorm, calcualte expenses, caluclate profits and decide on the amount of money they would need to start their business(es). Fantasy Football Project
This project focuses on multiplying, dividing, and adding decimals. It's a project that has a specific scoring system and based on NFL stats the students calculate and record the data. The students are required to create a bar graph to represent each drafted player and their weekly scores.

Pattern Block Ratio Projects
This is a simple, yet very engaging activity that you can use to enhance your students' learning of ratios and ratios in simplest form. It uses the typical pattern blocks that you see in most classrooms, yellow hexagon, red trapezoid, etc...and it allows students to get in groups and create whatever they'd like. I've had students create Minion replicas, flower gardens, houses, words, and even cars out of these pattern blocks and they are amazing!

This division project was created to allow students to practice 1 to 2-digit divisor division skills in an engaging way by designing their own poster designed around a word problem they created. It is a great way to asses the different skills taught for fifth grade division. Students love to present their projects!

This project will require students to use data found online as well as data provided in the project. Students will create a stem-an-leaf plot, bar graph, double bar graph, and back-to-back stem-and-leaf plot. Integer Number Lines
This is a simple integer number line set. On the first line are the numbers 0 to 60 (by 2). The second line are the numbers -30 to 30 (by 2). On the last line are the numbers -60 to 0 (by 2). There are many number-line generators out there, but all want to do one type of line multiple times, so I just created my own and thought it would be good to share!

Project: Color By Number
Students will create their own color by number activity using the editable directions included. The directions provide a checklist for the skills that need to be included in the project. An answer key is also required. My students LOVED this project which we used to review skills from the first part of the year after winter break, especially when they got to exchange color by number activities with classmates, providing for a fun time of solid math practice.

The Spend 1 Million Dollars Project is a project students do at home over a course of three weeks. Parents may help the students so it will appeal to various grade levels. Feedback from parents and students are very positive. The project has gone through several adaptations and is pretty easy to follow.

Project Based Learning- Wedding Cookie Table Planning (Multiplication)
Students will pretend they are wedding planners and help the bride and groom plan for their wedding cookie table. Read about the Pittsburgh-based tradition within the project and use websites of local bakeries to develop price quotes for the client. On a single 11" by 17" page are five identical number lines, ranging from -25 to 25. Formatted on Excel; it is editable and printable. I recommend that you print it out, make several copies, separate the number lines with a paper cutter then tape on each desk in your classroom or build it into an interactive notebook.

Project Based Learning-Back 2 School Shopping
The purpose for this project is to teach students the value of money. Each student (group) will have $100 to spend on products they think they will need to go back to school. Each student (group) will receive a budget sheet, a money sheet, and each store sheet. When an item is chosen it must be written on the budget sheet and the “money” must be crossed off or cut off the money sheet.
