Number sandwiches is a task that allows students to select a number from 5-12 on a bread slice. Then find combinations of two cards that total that number. With the two cards students make a "sandwich" with the dot side out. When they have found several addition facts and created several sandwiches, the next challenge is to look at the bread slice with the number on it (5) and name the number that makes up that total or sum on the other side of "slice" with the dots side facing them. I am the fifth child of twelve. I grew up on an island at the Mouth of the Mississippi River. I was attended a one room school that contained grades 1-8. I had a very unique childhood and love my job as an educator.
