Adding Integers (with counter models and number lines)
There are two different formats below for adding integers. Choose whichever one works best for you and your class.
Personally, I like my students to write what they are doing. I feel they will make fewer mistakes, especially when we start subtracting integers.
Students will use multiplication and division of whole numbers to solve problems including situations involving equivalent ratios and rates.
Students will match bottom of each card to the top of a different card.

Teacher Instructions:
1) Print out pages on single-sided. (Cardstock is preferred for longevity.)
2) Cut out each number and each matching prime factorization card.
3) Place in a Ziploc bag and you are ready to go!
Student Instructions:
1) Open your Ziploc bag, and take out all the pieces.
2) Match each number with its correct prime factorization.
3) When you find a match, write it on your recording sheet.
Throughout this document, you will find materials to help teach and reteach skills involving arrays, divisibility, factors, and prime factorization.

Adding Integers Activity Game.
Students can work in their groups to create different adding integer problems.
Complete the table with your shoulder partner.
• Randomly draw the number of tiles shown from your bag.
• Draw a picture of your collection of tiles.
• Circle any zero pairs, then determine the value of the tiles.
• Write a number sentence, show on a number line, and write a verbal description.
You can use color tiles if you have those.
You can make:
Red = negative (-1)
Yell
1) Print and cut out each individual rectangle.
2) Students will solve Addition and Subtraction of integers by:
a) making it into a matching game,
b) a shoulder-partner activity, or
c) use for individual practice.
Instructions:
1. You will work in a group to match integer expressions with the correct solution, counter model, or number line model.
2. Begin by placing all cards face down. Tallest person goes first.
3. The first player chooses two cards to see if they are a match. If not,
