A simple sheet for recording the types of characterization used in any short story or novel.

I use this printable with a hands on activity. I give each student an envelope with six synonyms that they arrange from the weakest to strongest connotation. They exchange envelopes and repeat (I have 8 different word evelopes and three copies of each).

This is a simple graphic organizer to break down plot structure. I make it double sided and we read one short story and fill it out together and then they read one with a partner or small group and fill it out on their own. I teach characterization in literature circles so I needed a graphic organizer that could work for any text. This seems to do the job. I also have another worksheet about characterization of a character (creatively called characterization worksheet)that is easier for kids who are struggling with the concept. For my most advanced kids I make this sheet two sided and ask them to chose the main character and then another character that is not as important so that they really have to sift through

This is a super fun way to introduce prepositions. My high school students loved it.
