This is a hand drawn printable for classroom teachers to use in composition books, or for parents to use with their kids! This fun bookshelf makes reading fun, and you can set up a prize for those who "fill their bookshelf!"
This is a 3 lesson series that covers the following: 1. Writing a Good Resume (1-2 classes)a. Students should create a resume prior to beginning interview practice. This is a simple graphic organizer which helps lead students to analyzing their primary sources.
It takes them through identifying the source, observing its parts, deciding whether it is helpful, and reading thoroughly. I use it in conjunction with my free note taking sheet.
This PowerPoint was created to accompany my "The First Battle of Bull Run Lesson Plan." You could buy it separately, but they are way more awesome together!!
SWBAT:
• Describe the events leading up to the Battle of Bull Run.
• Utilize knowledge of the battle to explore the personal experiences of those who witnessed the events that occurred.
• Understand the impact of the Battle of Bull Run on both Union and Confederate perspectives.
This PowerPoint is fully animated and contains a link to a
This is a great organizer for students to use when learning about the federal and state court system. I suggest that you tailor the "state" side to your home state, the organizer (it currently has a PA flag) can be edited on any word processor. GREAT TOOL! KIDS LOVE IT! Great for multiple grade levels, middle through high!
I use this powerpoint to introduce my Law in America class. There is also an accompanying graphic organizer in my store! This can also be used in a government class.
In college, my professors always told me not to “reinvent the wheel.” If another teacher has already created the document you’re looking for, and they’ve posted it online, use it! In my professional life, I’ve taken those words to heart. I’ve also made it a point to support other educators by purchasing their original items. Over the years, I have realized, however, that the selection of graphic organizers geared toward secondary social studies is hit or miss, at best.
This collection of graphic
This organizer goes through the rights of the accused in the order in which they would come up in a search/arrest situation. I use it throughout my Rights of the Accused Unit for students to go back to. It gives them a quick and easy study guide at the end of the unit. It asks for the corresponding Amendment and Supreme Court cases. Answers included!
This is a graphic organizer for use in middle school (6, 7, 8 grade) Ancient Civilizations classses. Can be used with direct instruction, cooperative learning and independent work. There is also a key for teacher use.
This is for a Law class. It is the Lawyer's Code of Professional Responsibility and includes ethical vs. unethical situations for students to discuss. Greath for an introduction to the role of lawyers in the legal system!
This is a fairly simple (but pretty!) graphic organizer that requires students to locate the names of the nine current Supreme Court Justices, as well as which president appointed them. Great homework assignment or pop quiz!
This packet can be used together or separately, depending on what order your unit is in. I teach incorporation (this includes a copy of the 14th amendment), and then begin my "rights of the accused" mini-unit with the incorporated 4th amendment through the 8th. Also included is an organizer for the exclusionary rule (including space for discussion of Mapp v. Ohio and Arizona v. Evans), police power and search/seizure definitions.
Worked great!
This is an organizer that I created to help with note taking while discussing The Supreme Court's power of judicial review and its two opposing behaviors: judicial activism and judicial restraint. This can be adapted to work for a variety of grade levels. I used it with high school seniors, but it can work just as well for middle school civics and government.
This is an overview of the American Enlightenment. It has a total of 21 slides. It is a great complement to a study of the European Enlightenment or as part of an American History class (for the higher grades). It is full of quotes, pictures, facts and connections. If you are using Microsoft Office 2003, you may need to adjust the formatting, but all of the layouts and info will still be there.
This is just a fun template that I created to use with my "The First Battle of Bull Run Lesson Plan." It has the Harper's Weekly header on it. The kids always say that it makes them feel like real civil war reporters.
This is a part of my other listing, "Rwandan Genocide Lesson Plan," but it can also be used in conjunction with your own lesson. It's a timeline notes sheet for students and the completed timeline for teacher use. VERY COOL!
A lesson on the Rwandan Genocide as part of a follow-up to a Unit on the Holocaust. Helpful in expressing to students that genocide is not a thing of the past. It also includes an overview of the situation in Darfur/Sudan. See also my listing "Rwandan Genocide Timeline," Which is a worksheet for students and is an important part of this lesson. The standards are for the NCSS and the Pennsylvania department of education, but it will undoubtedly fulfill other state's standards as well.
This worksheet can be used in conjunction with the video, which can be found online, or students can read the transcript aloud, play-style, or silently. Comprehension questions are included. Good warm-up activity!
