Once students understand their key vocabulary for RI.1, they are ready to attack implicit vs. explicit information at level 2 of Webb's Depth of Knowledge (DOK2).
I have used this simple activity with my sixth graders to assess their abiity to distinguish between the two types of evidence they will encounter within texts in a T-chart Graphic Organizer.
Could be used on a choice board (as I have used) or in literacy centers!
