Students will discover the rules associated with transformations by rotations of triangles and polygons on a coordinate grid (part of standard 8.G.3.) The activity is started off by using a cut-out manipulative to physically rotate the quadrant in which the shape is located. Students will record the transformed coordinates and write down any patterns that they notice from the original coordinates to the transformed coordinates. As a class, rules will be established. Students will practice identifying the various relationships that are formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal as required by Common Core standard 8.G.5. Students will find the missing angle in each diagram and identify the relationship of supplementary, vertical, corresponding, alternate interior, or alternate exterior. Let your students work together to solve simple, beginner, two-column proofs. One is an algebraic equations proof and the other uses vertical angles. Your students will love to race each other! These are suited for beginners who have just been introduced to two-column proofs in Geometry.

Students complete 24 one-step equations (all operations represented) to reveal an answer to the question, "How can you show that you are thankful?"

Students will work in pairs to draw their own figures and create a rule of which their partner will follow to draw a translated figure. This allows students to practice both of the skills associated with translations on a coordinate grid including writing and interpreting translation rules.

Guide students to learn the various parts of the slope-intercept form equation. Students will then practice graphing lines.

Students will be given a linear equation in slope-intercept form. The students will complete the partially filled-in table and then graph their equation. There are four versions with an answer key AND blank template! I've used this as both a formative assessment and summative assessment in my Pre-algebra and Algebra 1 classes.

Students will complete 6 problems in which they will identify the translation rules of figures on a coordinate grid.

Students will practice converting between the three forms of linear functions: equations, tables, and graphs.
