Linear and Nonlinear Functions This activity can be divided into two parts: teacher guided practice (using the first worksheet) and individual student or partner practice (using the second worksheet). The second worksheet could also be used as a quiz. Students will be graphing linear and nonlinear equations. They may graph the linear equations using a table, x and y intercepts or slope intercept form. They will graph the nonlinear equations using a table. Students will also identify if the

"Graphing 3 Ways Worksheet/Organizer" (8 Worksheets included) These worksheets are a great way to bring together everything the students learned about graphing linear equations. It will review graphing using a table, using intercepts and slope intercept form. By graphing the same equation 3 different ways, the students realize that no matter which form you graph the equation in, you will always get the same line. All 3 graphs should match. (This is also a great way for the students to be a

Students will plot 3 points on a coordinate plane and connect the dots to make a triangle. Depending on the question, students will have to figure out the length of a side or the perimeter of the triangle. Students will have to use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve the questions.

Experience

I have taught middle school and high school for 15 years. (from basic level to Algebra Honors)

Teaching style

My main goal each day is to focus on the students: to help them learn, understand and use the knowledge they have gained. I try to incorporate into the classroom a hands on approach to math. If the students can see and touch what they are trying to accomplish, the retention is so much higher. I try to challenge the students, and to create an environment in which they want to learn.
