This interactive is intended to help your students understand equivalent fractions as having the same value, even though they may look different. Your students will each get a pizza with toppings. You will give them a fraction and tell them to put their choice of toppings on that fractional part. Next, you will ask the students to cut their pizza into smaller sized pieces. Write the equivalent fraction made. Ask the students, “Did you get more pizza or do you still have the same amount?”

My own education history

I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2006 and started a long-term substitute position in a 5th/6th English Language Arts and Social Studies classroom. I was hired into my school district in which I student taught and I have been here ever since. I then decided to go back to Bowling Green to earn my Masters Degree in Administration. I graduated in 2013 with a Masters in Educational Administration.
