Government Integrated Language Arts Power Point
Who wants to study parts of speech, syllabification and morphemes? WE DO! I wouldn’t have believed it myself if it weren’t for my own students getting excited about these interactive PowerPoint vocabulary lessons.
Two questions after each quote:
"What do you think that means?"
"Do you agree or disagree?"
The way I use this resource:
1. I use Laura Candler’s Vocabulary Foldable (click the picture to follow the link to her site)

Simple Machines PowerPoint and Interactive Journal
I’ve used this PowerPoint for a quick two day end of year bonus unit for 3rd graders and an 8 week after school enrichment for 5th graders. Both groups loved the movies that are given after the examples.
The interactive journal pages can be used for note-taking and again later as a Simple Machines hunt as we walk around the campus.

Editable Animated Contractions
This animated PowerPoint for contractions always gets ‘ooh and aahs’ from the kids. First the two words appear. Then part of the word plummets off the screen. Finally, the apostrophe drops down from the sky as the word parts shift together to make a contraction.
Included in this PowerPoint
1. Contractions with helping verbs – will, have, would/had
2. Contractions with ‘to be’ verbs
3. Contractions with adverb ‘not’ in present tense, past tense and with modals
Garden Area Perimeter Personalized Task Cards
“Where’s mine? Where’s Mine?” Kids love these personalized task cards with word problems that include their own classmates’ names.
This set of 30 Garden Area and Perimeter task cards has an INTERACTIVE answer key! First students complete a card and correct with a peer. Then they use the PPT to click on the correct ladybug and reveal the answer. Please see the preview for screen shots.
Differentiation
Questions are progressively more difficult.

Metamorphic Quesadillas “Kay Suh Dee Yuhs”
Get your cameras out because parents love seeing this experiment in the newsletter or yearbook.
Students walk through a short PowerPoint about how metamorphic rocks change through heat and pressure (hmmm… sounds like a quesadilla to me!)
They use scientific tools (plastic knife, fork and magnifying glass) to practice the scientific process and record their results before eating this tasty experiment.
A note for parent donations is included. I su

Teaching style
I love active learning that can be loud and messy at times. I want kids to talk and interact about the topics we study. I want them to learn from each other as we explore language and math wrapped up in highly engaging integrated units.
