This is a culminating or introductory project for grades 3-6 when studying the United States. Changes can be made on the original hand out depending on what your grade level is studying. Students use the shapes of states in a particular region to build a monster for that region. For example, the Northeast Region Monster might have a head in the shape of Massachusetts, a body in the shape of Maine, arms in the shape of NH and Vermont, etc. I did make an example for the students as a model.

Students apply fractions to real life situations in demonstrating their comprehension of each fraction word problem. As students read, they shade in fractions and answer questions to demonstrate their understanding of what fractions truly are- parts of a whole!
Use reasoning skills to determine whether a fraction is labeled correctly or not. Demonstrate understanding of naming fraction by cutting out the fraction and then gluing it under the true or false category.
