Economics Consumer Internet Project What Things Cost Apartments

Created by

This is the second in a series of single period computer lab projects that I have designed for my 12th grade Economics students. This project allows students to search for apartments to rent. The project asks students to search for two apartments in three different cities. I have found that my 12th graders are very interested in this project and have a good time searching for their "perfect apartment". I don't put any limits on where to search or what type of apartments they should be searching

Experience

I have been teaching in California public high schools for over 25 years. I am currently teaching courses in American Government and Economics. In the past I have taught World History, US History, Honors Economics, and ESL World History. I hold a Clear Secondary Credential in Social Science and a Preliminary Administrative Credential. Teaching style

I believe my teaching style would be described as practical and applicable. I do my best to make my Social Science lessons applicable to my student's lives. We are constantly working to take course concepts outside of our classroom - and apply them to current events and my student's daily experiences. If this is not done - all we have are "words on the page". My goal is to make our core concepts and my lessons relevant to their life experiences. I believe the lessons that I've created will show how we've been able to accomplish this goal.
