I began my teaching career teaching kindergarten. I enjoyed every minute of my 13 years in kindergarten. Five years ago I looped up to first grade with my entire class! It was the best experience and I highly recommend it. There is nothing like starting a new year with all of the students you have had before. It was a very rewarding year for me. First graders are really fantastic learners.

This is Unit 2 (Number Bonds) which includes 8 days of lessons. If you are using the Singapore Math program you know that there is a lot of prep work involved prior to teaching each lesson. I have created a smart notebook filled with all the materials you will need to teach each lesson. I used the teacher edition scripts and created all the activities so that all you have to do is have the teacher manual and this smart file and you and your students will be all set.

This is a great smart notebook activity for short vowels. The first few weeks of first grade are spent on short vowels. I collected these songs and then made them into fun, interactive smart board activities. Children enjoy the pictures as well as the fun rhythm in the songs. I also print them out so the children can add the songs to their poetry books.
