This quiz assesses students' ability to add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers. This goes along with CCSS 4.NBT.B.4, under using "place value understanding and properties of operations to perform multi-digit arithmetic."
The quiz consists of 11 questions and includes a mix of addition and subtraction problems, including 2 word problems.
I made this sheet to assess students' understanding of place value. The different math concepts measured by this quiz include base-ten theory (10 times greater & less, etc.), place value, value, comparing numbers, and reading and writing numbers in word form, expanded form, and standard form.
There are 18 questions on the quiz, and I score it out of 20 points.
I made this sheet to help reinforce with my students the idea that "in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right."*
The worksheet has students calculating 10 times more or 10 times less than a number for several numbers. Students are then asked to analyze their responses and record what they notice. I allowed my students to use a calculator, if they needed to, to complete the calculations because my focus was on their ob
I made this problem-solving assignment based on an actual phone call that a customer had with his cell phone provider. The customer and the company disagree about his bill. The company quoted him .002 cents per kilobyte, but they charged him as if his rate was .002 dollars per kilobyte. The phone company contends there is no difference between .002 dollars and .002 cents, while the customer is trying to get them to understand that they are. The actual phone call can easily be found on the web
I made this presentation to help introduce/reinforce the concept of rounding to my students. There are 9 slides in the presentation, and it walks students through what is rounding and how to round. Much of the show is based on a rounding example where students explore rounding a number to different places. The show features motion and has built-in stopping points to allow for discussion. What you see in the screenshots will not all display at once when you play the show. It ends with severa
