I made this sheet as an assessment for multiplying and dividing fractions. It contains 15 problems and challenges students to multiply and divided fractions, mixed numbers, and whole numbers in an assortment of combinations. This sheet would serve as a good pre-test, a review sheet, or a quiz. An answer key is included.
I made this presentation to introduce my students to percents. I use this as part of my lecture to promote classroom discussion and for students to take notes from.
The show walks students through the idea of breaking apart the word percent into per and cent, and it leads students through a look at both of those words/affixes. The goal is to get students to understand that percent means out of 100.
The next few slides focus on converting both fractions and decimals into percents. They wal
This file contains both of my fraction and decimal number line files. I use these as problem-solving activities during our fraction and decimal units. Students are given a strip of paper that is set up like a number line. They are asked to correctly place fractions and decimals on the number line. In the process, they need to use their knowledge of comparing, ordering, and converting (fractions and decimals). We first do the fraction activity and then I give them the same number line weeks
I made this sheet as a review for a fractions quiz, but it could just as easily serve as the quiz itself. The sheet covers identifying fractions, simplifying fractions, finding equivalent fractions, converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions, and comparing fractions.
I made this activity to serve as a fun way for students to apply what they learned in the probability unit. Students rotate through 6 hands-on stations where they calculate mathematical probabilities, complete experiments, and then calculate the resulting experimental probabilities. The stations use basic materials that should be found within your classroom or school, like dice, coins, spinners, etc.
The activity requires a knowledge of mathematical probability and experimental probability fo
I made this activity to use as a problem-solving activity after I've taught the basic concepts within our fractions unit. In this activity, students are given 10 fraction cards and a strip of paper, and they are asked to correctly place the cards on the strip of paper to form a fraction number line. Students must use their knowledge of what is a fraction, comparing fractions, simplifying fractions, and equivalent fractions to correctly place each fraction.

This quiz can be used to assess students' ability to add and subtract fractions, including mixed numbers. There are problems with like and unlike denominators, and there are problems with mixed numbers and whole numbers. An answer key is included.
I made this game to help students practice comparing fractions to see which one is greater or if they are equivalent. The game is played just like the card game war, but it uses a deck of fraction cards instead. This file includes teacher directions, student directions, and 2 sets of fractions cards that the teacher will need to prepare.
I've used this activity for many years with my 5th graders, and they always enjoy playing it.
This file contains all 9 of my fraction products bundled together. Included in the file are three possible assessments or review sheets, three slideshows, one game, and one problem-solving activity. Topics covered include identifying fractions, comparing fractions, simplifying fractions, ordering fractions, adding & subtracting fractions, and multiplying & dividing fractions.
Purchasing each of these products separately would cost $17.
Here are links to the individual products contained in t
This slideshow can be used to introduce the concept of comparing fractions. It's a good teaching supplement that gives students pictures and directions for comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators. The teacher can walk students through the show while they take notes off of what they see.
I made this slideshow to introduce my students to the concept of simplifying fractions. The presentation provides a definition of simplifying fractions, an explanation for greatest common factor (GCF), and shows two methods for simplifying fractions. One method involves using GCF, and the other method involves using any factor. Lastly, there is a slide of practice problems to guide students through.
I made this PowerPoint slideshow to introduce my students to fractions. I use it on day 1 of my fractions unit to review/introduce what a fraction is and some of the key terms associated with fractions. The show covers that fractions can be a part of a group or part of a set. Multiple representation of fractions are given, including number lines, various wholes, and sets. The show ends by asking students to identify the fraction represented on a few slides.
I made this fractions quiz for a fifth grade above-grade-level math class. This is the assessment I use to asses students' basic understandings of fractions concepts, including identifying, simplifying, equivalent, mixed numbers, improper fractions, comparing, and ordering. This sheet could also serve as a review HW or classwork prior to a test.
I made this product as a fun way for my students to practice comparing fractions. It's based off the idea of the March Madness basketball tournament, where teams compete to see which one is the greatest. However, in this activity fractions compete against each other to find out which fraction is the greatest.
I have students fill out their initial bracket prior to teaching them about comparing fractions, so much like with college basketball there are lots of opportunities for them to incorrec
