The Titanic Mini-Research Project is an assessment of a culmination of skillsets. The skillsets addressed by the titanic Mini-Research Project include research on a guided topic, pre-writing concepts, written composition and editing. Students will be following a written composition structure that has been pre-taught. This project is to be used an assessment of the combined skillsets. The Motivation Mini-Lesson is one for teachers to use while winding up or down the school, and even in the middle when motivation and effort seem to hard to find in our students. The ReADER Format Cue Cards allow students to check back and make sure that all parts of the ReADER format have been included in their writing. This structure sets up a format for students to follow when learning how to create a solid constructed response. Mexican - American Picture Exploration is an anticipatory activity for the Mexican American War, Texans, the annexation of Texas, and the Mexican culture. The student page at the end should be provided to each student. The picture can either be projected or printed and placed into stations. This activity should take one class period or 45 minutes with class discussion.
