Students sort cards in INB or on notebook paper. They sort by the heading Rate, Unit Rate and Ratio.
Tips: Unit Rate is per 1 unit
Ratio compares 2 numbers
Rate compares 2 different units of something
A unconventional way to help students improve their scores on short answer & extended response questions.

Fun game to play in the classroom! My kids love playing.
There is a board for playing with instructions on how to show work and following along with each problem; possible ways to win and how to mark your board.
A unique way of allowing kids to number each board so you do not have to create and print multiple different boards and pass out and make sure they all have different boards. Works great!
There are 4 sheets of cut out problems that include integer problems using addition, subtraction
Sort the problems into 3 categories according to the answer. State whether the answer is positive, negative or zero. Can be used as a quick informal assessment or used in an interactive notebook.
Students will write a proportion and solve to find the unit rate (using fractions). There are 10 choice answers to use for 5 problems. Distractors allow you to see if a student understand how to set up the ratio and solve correctly. Can use for a quick small formative assessment of knowledge.
Conceptual Card Sort
Have students use the headings on a tri-folded a piece of paper (sometimes on the copier I shrink the cards to 80% or 70% so they will fit in their INB). Then have them sort accordingly. I tell them do NOT glue until we have went over correct answers as a whole class.
For my students that need a little help...
at the bottom of the trifold I have them write in BEFORE the activity
1. bottom of positive......same sign (multiply and divide)
2.bottom of negative.....differ
Have kids sort according to whether they are true or false. Tell students not to paste in INB or on paper until you have went over correct answers with class. (You can laminate and use with several classes and have kids make the chart in INB too)
We take some notes the in the about 5-7 mins before this activity.
Student can practice RP Vocabulary by using this vocabulary sort to make word + definition + example. This can be done as a group, by an individual or put into an interactive notebook.
Answers in form of QR Scan that I hang around the room for students to check their answers.
