Students sort cards in INB or on notebook paper. They sort by the heading Rate, Unit Rate and Ratio.
Tips: Unit Rate is per 1 unit
Ratio compares 2 numbers
Rate compares 2 different units of something
Using angle relationships (comp/sup/vertical) with solving equations.
"Use facts about complementary, supplementary, vertical and adjacent angles in a multi-step problem to write and solve equations for and unknown angle in a figure."
Problem of the day or Warm up or used for an exit ticket.
Students must
-Find Unit Rate
-Draw a picture representation
-Make a table
-Tie a Division problem to the picture and solve!
Shows several methods/ways of attaining the same answer and representing it in many ways. Many students know the answer immediately, but when they have to represent with a picture or a division problem they get stuck. Can be individual or whole group instructed.

Fun game to play in the classroom! My kids love playing.
There is a board for playing with instructions on how to show work and following along with each problem; possible ways to win and how to mark your board.
A unique way of allowing kids to number each board so you do not have to create and print multiple different boards and pass out and make sure they all have different boards. Works great!
There are 4 sheets of cut out problems that include integer problems using addition, subtraction
6 PODS for kids with ample space to work out. Spilt into steps for easy instruction for large group, small group or intervention.
All are fairly simple problems that students can solve WITHOUT calculators. The idea is to get the process across with easy problems so that students can replicate the process with tougher problems.
#1 Unit Rate with Fractions - whole number & fraction
#2 Unit Rate with Fractions - two fractions
#3 Unit Rate with Fractions - mixed numbers
#4 Unit Price
#5 Better
Sort the problems into 3 categories according to the answer. State whether the answer is positive, negative or zero. Can be used as a quick informal assessment or used in an interactive notebook.
A student follow along to the AIR Math Practice test. Alerts students to items to be aware of and how to use certain tools on the test. Also requires students to solve the 7 practice questions.
10 problems to use as assessment, classroom review, practice, whatever you choose.
Students check boxes if they had trouble solving and then we use the thumbs up/thumbs down to indicate if they got the problem correct or not (more of informal assessing than grading).
You can easily track where they are on a data sheet with how many thumbs up out of 10 they are getting correct. I usually require students to be a 7/10 before they can move to next standard 7 EE 2.
Students will write a proportion and solve to find the unit rate (using fractions). There are 10 choice answers to use for 5 problems. Distractors allow you to see if a student understand how to set up the ratio and solve correctly. Can use for a quick small formative assessment of knowledge.

I give on a Monday and its due on Friday. Students get practice with the higher point C/D level questions.
5 Question Check in to see where students are at. Can use as mini assessment, exit tix, in class quiz...
Find interest, rate, time principal and total balance :)
