Decimal Match Game

Created by
kataline
This is a game that consists of cards that include decimal models, word names, standard form, and fractions. Cut apart the cards, and give each pair of students a set to arrange and match the forms of decimals. A great follow-up activity is the Forms of Decimals Chart I also have for sale. (Some of the decimal model pictures are in color. For consistency, I suggest printing in black and white on colored cardstock.)

I Have, Who Has Game - Expanded Form of Numbers (Place Value)

This is a version of an "I Have, Who Has" game that I designed on expanded form on numbers. A student reads aloud his or her card, and the student with the matching card responds by reading aloud his or her card. The game continues until all cards have been read aloud, and the game comes back to the student who began. In order to keep all students engaged during the game, a worksheet is included for students to use. This worksheet has students cross out or shade in the box that contains the numb

*Newly revised as of February 2015 I designed this product to be a TRULY interactive resource through which students can develop conceptual understanding necessary for multiplication. What it's NOT: - Cute foldables that students could easily make out of construction paper - Wasted copy points - A one-time activity that the students will never look at again - Pointless What is IS: - Guided note-taking and practice - Activities meant to develop concepts - Reference pages for students to refer

Skittles Probability

I created this for an activity with probability. This can also be adapted to use with M&Ms. Using individual-sized bags of Skittles or M&Ms, students count out the number of candies total, and then record the number of each color of candy. They must then determine the probability of drawing each color from the bag. Students must determine which colors have the greatest and least probabilities of being drawn. They can then eat a few candies without looking at the colors, and determine what happen

Polygon Detectives (4.G.2)

I created this PowerPoint so that the students would focus specifically on the properties of polygons and using those to classify them. Students become detectives and use the clues (properties) to identify the suspects (polygons).

Similar to the Skittles Probability I also have for sale, this activity is designed to be used with individual size bags of candies such as M&Ms. Students are to find the fractional amount of the whole bag for each color. They are also to order the fractional parts from least to greatest, and compare fractional amounts of different colors.

4.NF.1 Basic introduction to equivalent fractions. Students experience different ways to determine equivalent fractions. It's not cutesy or anything, but it's very useful in helping students develop that conceptual understanding we need them to gain! If the fonts I used don't work for you, you can change them in 'Slide Master' view.

Measurement Birth Announcement

*Please note - the thumbnail image shows the formatting a little askew - the document actually consists of the text and picture box three times in three separate columns.* I designed this "birth announcement" for an activity on measurement. It's made to look like a birth announcement you might see in a newspaper. The bottom of the column includes a blank box for students to either paste or draw a picture of themselves as a baby. The students are then to fill in the information about themselves a
