About the store
I try to create activities that contain some kind of meaning or purpose related to real life. I've found that keeping things engaging and relevant is a major key to student buy-in, and thus, student success. A lot of my activities are also based on life experience growing up with family in the special needs community. I look at activities from not only the teacher side (what concepts will be taught) but the family side (how will this make a difference to their future) and the student side (what might they find interesting or boring).

Statistics Scaffolded Intro - Mean, Median, Mode & Range
An intro to statistics that includes scaffolded worksheets on mean, median, mode, and range, as well as a review and quiz.
These were originally created for a 6th grade math resource class and take the students through step by step with examples included.

Battleship Graphing Points on Coordinate Plane Game
This graphing activity, based off of the game Battleship is great review for any type of coordinate plane graphing. This Battleship instruction set can be paired with any print off of graphs (usually 2-4 per page). Customize your graphs to the level of your students (how many quadrants and how large of numbers). Can be used with a wide variety of grades of students.

Human Coordinate Plane Lesson Plan
A full class period lesson plan that serves as hands on practice with the coordinate plane. This activity gets students up and moving around and interacting with one another and the lesson. I've done this activity with a small group, but larger groups could do it by dividing into 2-3 groups. The cooperative learning that goes on from students helping one another is excellent. Takes a little preparation but students can help set up/tear down quickly.

Add/Subtract on Number Line - Whole Numbers and Integers
This activity walks students through adding/subtracting using a number line in a gradual build. It starts with simple single-digit addition and subtraction before introducing integers using the exact same process. It contains images/videos of some problems to allow students to check their work but concludes with a set of problems for them to attempt independently.

Budget Math Project
This project reviews all four basic operations (I choose to do this without calculators). This project also helps students come into the real world regarding the benefits and sacrifices of different career choices they make. They should understand that there is nothing wrong with working a minimum wage job, but there are sacrifices that go along with that. This project will help them compare their lifestyle in their dream job with their lifestyle if they don't finish school and can only get a mi

Real-world situation word problems that focus on using least common multiple. The questions include a wide variety of indicator words to help the students learn how to recognize a least common multiple problem. There is also a little greatest common factor thrown in for review.

This game is great for general review. Students with special needs frequently need to go back and review those basic arithmetic concepts in order to proceed with grade level material. This worksheet is a modification of word problems for division of fractions. There is scaffolding as to how to set up the problems and in what numbers to use. This is a great middle step to move from computational problems to word problems.

Surface Area and Volume Exploration
Given a variety of classroom objects that are rectangular prisms, the students have to measure and find the volume of the objects. I find it is fun to make them find their own objects or bring them in from home. It is great at the end to make a comparison of how big the object looks with the value of it's volume.

All About Me - Getting to Know Your Students
This activity is a great way for students to introduce themselves to you. This is a great activity for students to complete individually and then share with the class. This introduces the students to each other as well, and lets any students that are new to the school get to find some commonalities with their peers.

Teaching style
In teaching EC students, I have found the need for many hands-on activities. I can't stand doing all worksheets and formal notes. We have to get down and dirty with math.
My own education history
I have a Bachelor's in Special Education with a concentration in Math.
