I have used very detailed plans for Go Math in the past but they are very wordy and I struggle to get through them which results in me using half of what is planned. Administrators always want certain components and differentiation. These plans are for my 2nd grade class and they include the key components that my NYC school requests. They are easy to follow if you have knowledge of the Go Math Program.

These lesson plans are to accompany the Go Math program. They have all required components for NYC teachers. I have also added the specific ways in which the shifts are used because my last quality reviewer found just naming the shifts to be insufficient. I hope these are helpful! I will add the shift component to all other chapters so look for them to download the revised version if you have purchase the old version.

this bundle follows the same format of the other chapter plans BUT this on includes a hands on measuring activity plan. My students loved actually getting "out there" to use their skills. Other versions of the project were done using yarn, and playdough. Use what your kids like most to engage them. Remember these plans are used WITH the Go Math program

It is important to track data in all areas of teaching. All too often behaviors infringe on daily teaching. These forms are designed to be easy to fill out and they are manageable. The hope is that by using these, educators and parents will have documentation to lead conversations to assist students in making decisions to promote success in education!

Its very difficult to teach young children how to use a rubric. One of these was created with pictures to help them understand. The others have simplified words so that teachers can work through their purpose as the children progress.

NYC teachers are asked to do so much. I'm sharing these rubrics to be posted in areas of the room for writing in all subject areas. I've also included a few task cards that can accompany displays and student writing papers for editing and xeroxing. Anything to allow teachers to have Saturday to relax instead of doing hours of creating. Good Luck

Through the years I have had to create rubrics for every task given to my students. I have put some of them together from my last year in grade 4. They include some that are task specific and others more general. Some of these would be used by students to self-assess and also for peer-assessment and most would be used for teacher-student conferences for evaluation and targeted instruction. I created them on this software so that they could be displayed on the smart-board and discussed to let

About the store

Experience

I have taught in both private and public schools. Beginning with Early Childhood in a Day Care setting and then spending 30+ years in formal classroom settings. I have experience with Balanced Literacy Programs, numerous math programs and the Common Core. I have mentored many amazing new teachers and I am very creative in my classroom planning.

Teaching style

I try to create a student centered classroom. The children really seem to feel that it is their classroom. I am the facilitator and the students really do point me in the direction they want to go. It doesn't always follow my plan, but we adjust together to keep the class focused, productive and engaged.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I have received recognition from my administration for my work as a mentor to both new teachers and struggling students. When a child comes to me angry and says, "I listened and I didn't hit him but I really wanted to!" I know that what we are teaching does get through. Teaching a child that there are other ways to handle emotions without getting physical gives me hope for their future. I consider my students---my children and they know that. Getting visits from past students who tell me how I have influenced their lives is very touching and it inspires me to keep on going, even when it gets rough.

My own education history

I received my under graduate degree in Psychology/Elementary Education in 1993 and my Masters in Early Childhood Education in 1999. I have remained involved in numerous professional development opportunities.

Additional biographical information

As the mother of three, and the teacher to hundreds (By this point) I have tried many different ways to reach many different children. I have a wealth of knowledge and some tried and true strategies for reaching children, teachers and families. I am really hoping that I am able to offer some of the materials I have compiled and continue to develop to help fellow educators teach the future.
