About the store
I have 31 years of teaching experience, 14 years in elementary 17 in middle school. After 6 years of teaching Algebra 1 GATE and pre-algebra, I took on a new position as a math intervention specialist helping struggling math students, preparing lessons for teachers, and team-teaching with classroom math teachers. 17 years later I returned to elementary school where I am currently a math professional development coach in grades K-5. I truly believe in the necessity of teaching the "why" of mathematics. My favorite moments are the "Oh, now I get it!" ones.

This 1 page, 6 question worksheet has students using estimation / rounding in order to multiply and divide whole numbers and decimals. 4 of the 6 problems are multiple choice (for test prep) and 2 are open ended. Answer sheet included.

Expanded Form With Exponents Dominoes Train
This ia 2 page, 16 problem set of dominoes. Cut out each horizontal row of cards and place them in a ziploc bag. Students will match each standard form number to its equivalent exponential notation end to end on the top of their work area. Standard from numbers are similar so as to keep students from just looking for the numbers and not paying attention to place value.

Word Problems: Do the Words Scare You?
Appropriate for Halloween or any time! This is a one page worksheet consisting of 8 problems.
The first 4 are fairly easy word problems, while the final 4 are "naked" math problems. Each word problem on the left exactly matches the "naked" problem next to it.
The point of the worksheet is for students to see that they shouldn't immediately tell themselves that because it is a word problem, they can't do it. If they can do the problems on the right, then they should be able to work out th

Teaching style
Hands on, self-discovery, inquiry-based, real life applications, making sure students understand the "Why" of mathematics. Without a conceptual understanding, is there really understanding? I want to build thinkers vs mimickers.
