Use these menus as reading response menus for your students. Depending on how you run things in your classroom, students can respond once they finish a book or after they finish reading a portion of the book. I'm a firm believer that students should spend most of their time READING - and not writing about what they've read, recording the minutes they've read, rating the books they've read on a scale from 1-5, etc. This free read & response was created to allow students the some opportunity for choice, and yet also hold the students to some accountability for reading at home. There is a blank space at the top of the pages where you can write in how many minutes (minimum) you expect students be to be

Place Value Match Up Game | Up to the Hundred Thousands

Print, copy and cut for a fun math matching game in your classroom. (I would copy onto colored cardstock so you cannot see through the playing cards) Lay all the cards out, and flip over three cards. Hopefully you will find a matching standard form, word form, and expanded form. Continue taking turns and playing until all numbers and all their forms have been matched and found. *You could also play this game like SPOONS. Each person is looking to “collect” one number. Do a quick youtube search

Students will self assess their understanding of taught mathematical concepts as they plug in numbers to solve a word problem that challenges them with the appropriate level of rigor. These word problems are two step addition/subtraction problems, that progress into multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division as the year goes on. Each month you have a page that shows the numberless word problem, then a page that tells students what numbers to plug in according to their self assessment,

I created this product for two purposes. First, to review graphing (tally charts, bar graphs, and picture graphs) and analyzing data. Second, to introduce students to atypical polygons. Often, students have a concrete picture of what a triangle SHOULD look like, what a quadrilateral SHOULD look like, etc. This activity has students thinking flexibly, and relying on their understanding of defining features of polygons instead of an exemplar picture in their head to determine what kind of polygon

Experience

I am an advocate for anywhere anytime learning! I have taught in 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.

Teaching style

I believe in the power of relationships. Once students feel comfortable, safe, and loved - they are willing and ready to take the risks necessary to learn in the classroom. I like to use collaborative groupings, turn and talk, and meaningful integration of technology in the classroom so that students can learn from one another and the world around them.
