I have over 13 years experience teaching high school math. I started my career teaching in Quincy, Florida for 2 years. After that I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for 3 years. I tried it back home where I grew up in Juneau, Alaska for 2 years. After leaving Alaska, I moved back to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where I taught for 4 years and I was the department chair for the last 3 years. I taught in Clarksville, TN for 2 years and was a Level 5 teacher my final year there. I recently graduated with my Masters in Mathematics Education, K - 8, and I currently teach at Juneau Douglas High School.

Introduction to creating and understanding matrices Notes Outline
These notes are used introduce the concept of a matrix and its parts. It does not go into any operations. Solving 2 Step Equations Graphic Organizer
This graphic organizer is great to use as a review of the more difficult 2-step equations. These are the problems that I usually find students struggle with the most. I suggest copy it on a different color than white (students love this for some reason) and possibly markers or colored pencils. If you pass out markers, tell them to work it out on a separate paper before putting it on the graphic organizer (just in case they are wrong). This worksheet is broken down into 2 parts. The first part has the students practicing determing if equations are linear and writing equations in standard form. The second part has students graphing linear equations by find the x-intercept and y-intercept. There are a total of 15 problems.

Factoring Sum and Difference of Cubes Graphic Organizer and Song
I have always struggled teaching this topic, and another teacher shared this song and it worked wonders on my students. I made this graphic organizer to tie everything together for them and it worked great.
The first page is what is given to the students and the 2nd page is your reference for what the song is saying. I usually have the students make a beat on the desk and they will remember the song, which will let them factor cubes!

This is the review that used to help my students prepare for their systems of equations test. It is broken down into 6 different sections.

I used this worksheet with my Pre-Calculus class, but it could also be used with Algebra 2. It includes 5 circle transformation problems, 3 writing equations given tangent lines, and 2 completing the square problems to find the center and radius of a circle. It is a great and short way to assess students understanding of circles and writing equations.

Experience

Teaching style
Each school that I have taught in has been considered a "low performing" school and I have always worked with students that come in lacking prior knowledge and the motivation to be successful.
I create and use a lot of activities and games that help keep my students engaged. A co-worker of mine calls me, "The Game Queen."
Awards & shining teacher moments
I was a Level 5 teacher for the 2011-2012 in Tennessee, with some of the highest scores in Algebra 2 for the school district (which included my inclusion class)

I graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1994. I attended Florida State University and earned my Bachelors degree in December 1998 for Curriculum and Instruction: Mathematics Education (6-12).
