Math teachers in North Carolina of grades 5-8 are required to teach their students how to express their answers in open- or gridded responses boxes for their End-of-Grade tests. This activity helps students to not only practice their skills at dividing by one-digit numbers but to also practice how to enter answers in the gridded-response boxes. A product is created, and the students draw illustrations of either transportation or communication in the US from before 1800 to today and the future. The future, of course, is speculative, but again taps into students' creativity. A rubric is included as well. This file is in Microsoft Word 2010 so that teachers can modify it in any way they wish
