Two-Way Table Project

8.SP.4 Two-Way Tables Students will coming up with their own questions to be displayed in two-way tables and then will be organizing and summarizing their data to make conclusions. For my students, I am using this as a summative assessment in lieu of a test. Project Targets: I can understand that patterns of association can be seen in bivariate categorical data by displaying frequencies and relative frequencies in a two-way table. I can construct and interpret a two-way table summarizi

Properties Reference Sheet and Chart (7th & 8th Grade)

For my seventh graders, I wanted a reference sheet for them to use throughout the school year which would cover all the properties we would address during the school year. I also used this for my 8th graders as a review. Following Marzano's recommendations for effective lesson design, I tried to include examples, non examples (using mistakes my students commonly make), and pictures to illustrate the concept. This sheet covers the following properties: Commutative Associative Additive Identity

Random Sampling and Populations Go Math Companion Guide Mod 10 (7th Grade)

After our first year adopting the Go Math series, I found myself supplementing the book with materials for my students to help support all learners. I teach a wide range of students that includes a class of all gifted/accelerated students that could use some extra challenge to having a co-taught class that could use more supports. Therefore, I created these companion guides for each chapter (but could be used not only for Go Math but the topic in general in any 7th grade class) as a one-stop too

Two sets of quizzes that cover 7th grade geometry standards of: 7.G.A.1 --Scale Drawings (computing lengths) 7.G.A.2 --Construct Triangles & Determine unique, >1 or no triangle 7.G.A.3--Describe 2D figures from slicing 3D figures I used the second quiz as a retake for those needing another chance. It could also be used as a study sheet before the test or a review before state testing.

Math Operations Terminology Word Sort & Word Problem Application

7.NS.A.3. Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving the four operations with rational numbers. Every year I struggle with getting my students to "decode" math word problems to determine what operations to use. It always seems that students do great with each operation individually but the moment words and mixed review are added the struggle intensifies. This year, I used this word sort which they then cut apart the words, glued on card-stock as a graphic organizer and then used this

Function or Not: Tables, Notes, and Flow Chart

I created this activity to use when introducing the idea of functions for my students. I tried to provide them a visual to remind them of what a function does and how to determine whether or not something is or is not a function by looking at a table. The flow chart then builds upon that idea by combining tables, ordered pairs and graphs to determine whether or not something is a function.

After finding that some of my lowest level students struggled with just organizing their problems and using a formula to solve simple interest scenarios, I created this organizer to help them plug numbers into the spots and then copy down their steps. I did
