I have been teaching JH math in Texas for 19 years, and I still LOVE it! Many people think I am crazy, but I cannot imagine doing anything else. I have found my true calling!!!
This file contains an editable Powerpoint game that is modeled after the TV show Cash Cab, complete with exciting sounds, a working scoreboard, and a solution key to all 30 questions. My Algebra students have gotten VERY spoiled with review games. However, they get vey excited and competitive when they play one. So, I will keep making them...Win-Win for all!
Topics covered in this game are: Properties, linear equations, functions, inequalities, systems of equations, systems of inequalities,
Looking for a new way to assess mastery of a concept? Why not try a maze?
Students will start the activity at the "START" arrow and continue through the maze until they reach the “END” space multiplying polynomials the entire way!
I have included a color copy (if you would prefer to laminate them to use in future years as an in class activity), and a white copy that could be used as homework. Plus the solution key.
My students always look forward to activities. If yours do too, you might
This file includes all you need for a fun filled day of calculating unit rates; 14 problem posters, a "word scramble" self check worksheet, and solution key. The activity is designed to have students work in groups and OUT OF THEIR SEATS! There are 14 poster that will be placed around the room. Once a problem is solved correctly, students will find its "matching" solution on another poster in the room. When all 14 problems have been answered correctly, each team will end back where they sta
Are you looking for a new way for your students to review solving equations? This game is the answer. It is modeled after the board game CLUE. This file includes all you need for a fun filled day of solving equations; 13 problem posters to be placed around the room , a logic worksheet to document the clues, and map of the property. The activity is designed to have students work in groups and OUT OF THEIR SEATS! Your students will work with a partner or in a small group and solve equations.

When spring is in the air, I cannot help but think about BASEBALL!!! However, we still have several months of school remaining. So why not combine the two?
This file contains 2 baseball themed quadratic equations worksheets. The first one requires students to test for factorability of quadratic equations by using the discriminant. The second requires students to use the quadratic formula to solve quadratic equations. And as always, I have included both solution keys.
Together, they serve
This file includes all you need for a fun filled day of interpreting Algebraic functions in multiple ways: 12 sheets of matching cards (4 sections per sheet), work packet, and solution key. The activity is designed to have students work in groups and OUT OF THEIR SEATS! There are 12 graph matching cards that will be divided into groups of four cards per station. Students will be divided into groups of three or four. First students will look at the 16 card sections at their assigned table and mat
This is a very versatile unit, It can be used early in the year as an introduction to TI 83/84 graphing calculators for Algebra I students. Or it can be used later in the year after state testing, as preparation for the upcoming year (this is how I have used it for years). My 8th grade students are very restless and lack much interest in school after state testing, So, I break out the calculators and they are in total AWE! So, it serves as a nice break.

Solving equations is a skill that has to be mastered for students to perform basic algebraic operations in later years. While it seems so logical to me, my students often struggled with what steps are to be taken first (+, -, x, ÷), even though it is just order of operations…in reverse.
A few years ago, I started using “Equation Estates” to teach this, and the confusion no longer exists. We even had a little fun along the way! I teach JH, and they can TOTALLY relate to this set up!

This can be an individual activity or completed with a partner. Students will be given 24-30 cards (mappings, ordered pairs, graphs, tables and equations) to sort into the appropriate category: relation or function. Once the cards have been sorted, they can complete the extension WS to reinforce the images on the cards.
If your student enjoy this type of student activity, you make also want to consider these:
