I have been teaching middle school math for over 20 years. I have taught all middle school grades in math and science. Currently, I am a math interventionist for 6th, 7th and 8th graders in Michigan. M & M and Skittle Distribution
This is a lesson on circle graphs and distribution. It can be used to compare two sets of data. I usually do the M & M activity together as a group and then have the students complete the Skittles investigation on their own. This is a great constructed response type of activity because it requires the students to use a lot of different common core standards. Experience

Teaching style
I teach most of my lessons traditionally and utilize Kagan strategies. I am learning about Building Thinking Classrooms and I am realizing how valuable this strategy is for the middle school grades.
